Chiavarine chair by Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi, 1950

Designed by Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi and manufactured since the early 19th century in the Ligurian town of Chiavari, Italy, the "Chiavarina" chair takes its name from the town, and its design has existed for over 200 years. Inspired by the Napoleon III style, its frame is made of hand-turned and polished solid brass. The padded seat, upholstered in red velvet, rests on four tapered legs, slightly curved like elephant tusks. Robust and hard-wearing, yet refined, this famous chair with its timeless look has survived the centuries without aging. Timeless and enduring, it's a safe investment as well as a decorative classic.
