Decorative glazed ceramic plate in the Vallauris style, circa 1950-60.

Decorative plate in glazed ceramic, work from the 1950s-60s attributed to Vallauris. Modernist decoration evoking a stylised landscape: blue-grey background enhanced by a bright orange solar disc. A sober and graphic composition, typical of post-war production, in the spirit of ceramists Gilbert Valentin and André Baud. Turned piece, layered polychrome glaze. Incised signature on the reverse, unidentified but characteristic of the workshops active in Vallauris during this period. Diameter: 35.5 cm. Good condition, small visible glaze cracks, no chips or restoration. The modernist plates from Vallauris appeal to collectors and enthusiasts of 1950s design for their abstract aesthetics and strong decorative presence.
