Here is a set of eight very pretty stoneware dessert or cheese plates from Puisaye with a beautiful, slightly pyrite glaze in soft colors: ecru, caramel, and chocolate—a material and color scheme typical of the 1970s. Their shape is simple and elegant. They are a very fine example of wheel throwing and glazing work by the potter Jean-Pierre Prud'homme. They are not signed, but firstly, I recognize Jean-Pierre Prud'homme's glazing technique with certainty, and secondly, they are part of a very large Prud'homme service that I found at a flea market, several pieces of which are signed, especially the larger ones. He did not sign all the pieces in a single service. Jean-Pierre Prud'homme and his wife founded a pottery workshop in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from the Nièvre region (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today (Atelier Au Grès du Vent), run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s and 2000s. These plates date from the late 1970s (the enameling is even more refined than the pieces from the early 1970s) and are all in perfect condition, without a single crack, chip, or even a tiny chip on the rim. They measure 18.5 cm in diameter and 2 cm in height at the rim.
