Superb Art Nouveau bedside table in the style of Gauthier-Poisignon.

Gauthier poinsignon is a famous designer of art nouveau furniture at the beginning of the 20th century. Although this piece of furniture is not signed, it is similar in style and materials to his work. Of high quality, it comes from a private mansion built in nancy in 1924 and furnished at the time for the composer louis thirion. The marble slab, in perfect condition, is framed by two solid walnut recesses that lead to the small drawer with the sumptuous original gilded handle. Below, a small door with its magnificent original brass handle. The door clips thanks to a brass mechanism, opening onto an interior in terre de fer, which is improved ceramic (more resistant, in particular), as stamped on the bottom. It has a beautiful rounded shape and is very dense white. Below, another storage space in a molded shelf. The legs are also expertly crafted, there is a small missing part on the right rear leg, the only very minor flaw (with two small beginnings of cracks on one side) of this luminous piece of furniture with a certain presence. We note the small details which also betray the quality: the screw covers, on the back of the drawer front, can be removed. Inside, engraved: the patent and the manufacturer's brand, the invisible castor (!). A superb piece, which can be used as a bedside table, certainly; but given its quality, it can perfectly serve as a side table in a living room, an entrance hall.
