Support Furniture in Precious Wood Marquetry, Napoleon III period – Milie

This Napoleon III period side cabinet is an exceptional piece, crafted with remarkable care in the tradition of 19th-century art furniture. It is entirely inlaid with precious woods such as rosewood, mahogany, and elm burl, which give it visual richness and tonal depth. The top surface is topped with a white Carrara marble, whose circular front corners soften the silhouette of the piece. The front opens with a central door, beautifully inlaid with a bouquet of flowers in light and stained wood. This floral motif, delicately inlaid on a diamond-patterned background, is framed by friezes and mouldings, showcasing refined cabinetmaking craftsmanship. The interior, made of mottled maple, features two adjustable shelves on brackets. Above this door, we find a floral marquetry set on carefully worked veneer. The sides of the cabinet consist of detached fluted columns, evoking ancient architectural codes and enhancing the noble character of the piece. Finally, the cabinet rests on ball feet, ensuring both stability and harmony in proportions.
