Very old walnut chest of drawers.

Antique commode with cross supports made of solid walnut dating from the 1810s/1830s. Solid walnut on all visible faces, with feet and cross supports also in walnut. Top made of 2 planks, sanded on the surface, stained and finished with a bistro varnish. 4 drawers, including one in the apron above the cross supports. Handles in gilded brass, lock entries in bronze. Wide, straight, and imposing feet topped with cross supports. Simple sides, panelled. Lovely commode from a master house in a village in northern Aveyron, southern France. High-quality materials, traditional craftsmanship, assembled with wooden dowels. Very good overall condition, front and sides in excellent condition, top restored. At the back of the piece, wood-boring insects have marked the wood without affecting the structure or the feet; the commode is stable and solid. Comprehensive curative treatment of the piece. The top has been sanded, stained, and protected with a bistro varnish. The openings and closures of the 4 drawers are smooth and easy.
