Longwy enamel vase - Art Deco - exotic elephant decoration

Antique glazed earthenware vase from Longwy, model “Romance”, hand-decorated with a magnificent motif of exotic birds in a stylised Asian landscape. The piece is distinguished by its spectacular cracked turquoise blue background, typical of Longwy glazes, enhanced by very bright golden highlights. The elephant head-shaped handles add a rare sculptural presence and are highly decorative. The work on the crackle, the shades of blue, and the richness of the gilding give this vase an aesthetic that is both Art Deco, Orientalist, and precious.
