Antique landscape painting with men-at-arms from the 17th century

COD 01016. Refined Italian painting from the second half of the 17th century. Artwork oil on canvas depicting a wonderful view of a lake with figures, a wide mountainous landscape illuminated by a warm twilight light. In the foreground on the left we find some men-at-arms while on the right we observe a group of women intent on washing clothes, as well as some characters on the back of a camel. This particular detail in the center of the composition suggests a possible reference to the biblical episode of the flight into Egypt, a veiled and cultured allusion found in 17th-century landscape painting. Painting of notable pictorial quality, rich in minute and splendid naturalistic details. 19th-century frame in carved and gilded wood, beautifully decorated, with some signs of aging. Painting already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots. Overall in good condition. Interior size H 26 X W 50 cm.
