A pair of vintage ceramic vases from Vallauris, featuring a typical drip glaze decor from the 1960s-1970s. Their conical shape flares out at the top and ends with a wavy, pinched neck, creating a multi-lobed corolla. The glossy chocolate brown base is animated by large drips of bright pink and white glaze, with very pronounced material effects. Each vase thus has a unique decor. The interior is fully glazed in brown. Under the base, the unglazed foot bears the inscription "Vallauris" painted in red. Located near Cannes, Vallauris has been a pottery center for several centuries. After World War II, the town experienced a remarkable revival, driven by the arrival of many ceramicists and the presence of Picasso, who worked with ceramics from the late 1940s. In the following decades, the workshops of Vallauris produced a large number of these pieces with thick, colorful glazes, which are now highly sought after by retro decoration enthusiasts. Alone or filled with flowers, these vases will add a warm and colorful touch to a fireplace, sideboard, or shelf. Overall good condition with some small glaze irregularities and drips under the base, inherent to the manufacturing process.
