Large antique cast iron planter, originating from France and dating from around 1900. The planter features an oval bowl on a pedestal, with decorative scroll handles and floral reliefs characteristic of early 20th-century French ornamental ironwork. The surface retains layers of aged original paint, showing remnants of gold and brown to reddish-brown paint. These worn layers, combined with areas of exposed cast iron and natural oxidation, create a rich and varied patina that reflects the age and history of the planter. Due to its large size, this planter was originally intended for substantial plant compositions and now serves as a strong decorative element. Drainage holes are present at the base, confirming its original function as a planter. Suitable as a large decorative cachepot, planter, or sculptural accent, for indoor use or in sheltered outdoor spaces. Good antique condition, structurally sound, with surface wear, oxidation, and visible remnants of gold and brown/reddish paint, consistent with its age and use. Please note: this planter is distinguished by its patina and paint remnants from the other example currently available, offered in a separate listing. Details. Country of origin: France. Period: circa 1900. Material: Cast iron. Width: 80 cm. Depth: 34 cm. Height: 38 cm. Weight: approx. 19 kg.
