4 deep plates Gien Bouquets de Roses ironstone Prussian blue

Set of 4 antique deep plates made of ironstone from the Gien pottery, decorated with "Bouquets of Roses", circa 1880-1890 in a superb patinated Prussian blue on a slightly cream ivory background. The printed decoration features fine floral garlands punctuated with tied ribbons and a central floral crown. Their very interesting size, halfway between a flat plate and a deep plate, gives them an elegant and very contemporary presence on a table. Stamped Faïencerie de Gien – Gold Medals – Diplomas of Honour – Bouquets of Roses with the impressed mark OX: the stamp allows for dating around 1880-1890. In beautiful vintage condition with signs of use consistent with age, fine cutlery scratches in the bowls, slight old crazing of the glaze, discreet chip on the rim of one of the plates, two plates have small chips on the back that are not visible when the plate is placed down, beautiful colour uniformity among the four pieces (see photos). Diameter 24.5 cm, height 2.5 cm. A delicate and graphic series, ideal for an elegant table.
