Boulenger Choisy le Roi Soup Plates (Set of two)

A superb pair of antique ironstone soup plates, attributed to the H. Boulenger factory in Choisy-le-Roi, renowned for the exquisite detail of its printed designs at the end of the 19th century. The decoration, in a deep teal blue, features a delicate garland of roses underlined by an openwork frieze in a neoclassical style: a visual signature very typical of Choisy. Although these two pieces are unstamped, their decoration, workmanship, and clay perfectly match the series produced by the factory. Furthermore, identical models are documented with an original stamp: "Terre de Fer – Établissements Debray – Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, " confirming that Boulenger marketed certain series for other distributors or in unstamped versions. This was a common practice at the time. Beautiful vintage condition, no cracks, with a harmonious antique crazing, a small chip on the underside of one of the plates, and a few discreet signs of age that contribute to their authenticity.
