This vintage plate features, on a white background, a rooster proudly perched on a flower basket, displaying its pink and red plumage at the heart of an exuberant composition — blooming flowers, tender green foliage, swirls, and small flowers scattered here and there. The scalloped border is enlivened by a frieze of stylised feathers in shades of red and pink, highlighted by a bright red line. A joyful and popular piece, in the great tradition of hand-painted French decorative faience. On the reverse: St Clément France 64. The Saint-Clément pottery, established in Meurthe-et-Moselle since 1758, is one of the oldest fine faience manufacturers in Lorraine. Long associated with the Lunéville potteries, with which it shared owners and expertise, it distinguished itself through its hand-painted floral and animal decorations, colourful and warm, making it a major player in French popular faience. Still in operation, it continues today a craft tradition of more than two and a half centuries.
