Antique soumak carpet signed and dated 150x106cm

A truly rare and beautiful old soumak carpet, dated in both arabic numerals (1332) and western numerals (1912) and signed in a cartridge. This is a real collector's item. The colors are vibrant and barely faded during the 110 years of its existence. This has clearly been a valuable piece and shows no signs of wear or damage so common in textiles of this age. I know that for many years it hung on the wall of a large castle in the southwest of the france. The main mofifs seem to be derived from the persian boteh with other motifs associated with kazakh carpets. Soumak carpet weavers wandered over a vast area at the time before national borders and took their influences from afar. This is an item that will be appreciated by any serious collector.
