Vintage vase, French ceramic – Breugnot / Brisdoux workshop – 1960s

A magnificent small sculptural vase from the French workshop of Jacques Breugnot, signed on the reverse and numbered 301, perfectly illustrating the spirit of post-war French ceramic design. This is an emblematic piece from the Brisdoux pottery factory in Vierzon, renowned for the quality of its architectural forms and textured decorations typical of the Trente Glorieuses (the thirty glorious years of post-war economic boom). Dating from the 1960s, this vase features remarkable relief work: a decoration of deeply incised spirals and zigzags, enhanced with small enameled drops of a warm ochre, creating a vibrant interplay of light and texture. The ringed base gives it an elegant and highly graphic silhouette. The balance between structure and decoration highlights the artisanal expertise characteristic of the Brisdoux workshops, blending modernist inspiration with bold geometric design.
