Large antique gilded mirror in Louis XV / rococo style.

Very beautiful large antique mirror with a gilded frame, whose generous curves and shell decoration fully evoke the Louis XV style and rococo aesthetic. Its dynamic framing is adorned with shells, scrolls, and sculpted foliage, featuring a prominent central shell that gives it a lot of character. The gilding, now beautifully patinated by time, adds a warm presence without being too ostentatious. The reverse, made of wide planks of old wood, along with the overall construction of the frame, attests to traditional craftsmanship. Based on its style and design, I would date this mirror to the late 19th or early 20th century, although I cannot guarantee an exact date without a maker's mark or label. It is a decorative piece of considerable size that will easily find its place above a fireplace, console, or chest of drawers. It can also create a striking contrast in a contemporary, minimalist, or bohemian interior. Characteristics. Type: large antique wall mirror. Style: Louis XV / rococo. Estimated period: late 19th – early 20th century. Material: wooden structure with moulded/stuccoed and gilded decoration. Decor: shells, scrolls, and foliage. Dimensions: approximately 120 × 80 cm. Colour: antique gold / natural patina. Installation: hanging system present on the back. Unique antique piece. In good overall condition considering its age. The gilding naturally shows signs of use, minor wear, and variations in patina. A lack/old restoration is visible on part of the frame, photographed in detail. These marks testify to its history and contribute to the charm of this antique piece. The glass also shows the small marks one might expect from a mirror that has endured the decades. The mirror remains particularly decorative and retains a very beautiful appearance once installed.
