Max Welz Vienna Art Nouveau Hand-Carved Gilded Wood Wall Mirror, Austria, 1930s

A magnificent and rare Art Nouveau wall mirror from the 1930s, designed by Hans Welz for Max Welz in Vienna. Hans Welz, the nephew of Max Welz, was a student of Josef Hoffmann and also worked for the Wiener Werkstätte. The mirror is made of carved and gilded lime wood, adorned with floral ornaments. It is remarkably in its original condition, unrestored, with age-appropriate wear that should be regarded not as flaws but as a testament to its authenticity and history.
