Vintage magazine rack Giotto Stoppino for Kartell, model 4675, black b

Sculptural, rare, collector, this magazine rack is model 4675 designed by Giotto Stoppino for Kartell in 1972, the large version with six compartments, more imposing and much harder to find than its smaller counterpart, the 4676. Made of glossy black ABS plastic, it stands out with its monumental silhouette made of cylindrical tubes and interlocking vertical walls, creating a striking play of volumes and reflections. Its central handle allows for easy movement despite its size. The original 1970s edition is identifiable by the quality of its plastic and its two-part construction. Giotto Stoppino is one of the central figures of Italian industrial design, having won the Compasso d’Oro award twice. His collaboration with Kartell, a pioneering Milanese company in moulded plastic furniture, produced some of the most collected pieces of 1970s design. The model 4675 is now much rarer on the vintage market than the 4676 and commands significantly higher prices on specialised platforms like 1stDibs or Pamono. Placed on the floor in a living room or hallway, it asserts itself as both a sculpture and a piece of furniture. Signs of wear due to time, but remains in generally good condition.
