Pair of "Pineapple" Ice Buckets in Brass, in the Style of Mauro Manetti, A

This pair of bar accessories belongs to the luxury stationery and silverware of the 1970s. The structural design of each piece takes the form of a pineapple, composed of two hemispheres of solid brass fitting together at mid-height. The surface of the body is entirely chiselled with a geometric network (diamond-shaped crosshatching) that rigorously imitates the texture of the fruit's skin. The upper part, serving as a removable lid, is topped with an imposing plume of jagged brass leaves. The pineapple motif, a classic symbol of hospitality since the 18th century, experienced a major resurgence in the decorative arts of the 1970s, driven by the Hollywood Regency movement.
