Lava stone coffee table enamelled by Robert & Jean Cloutier 1950

Authentic modernist coffee table by the famous French ceramicists Robert and Jean Cloutier (late 1950s / early 1960s). The enamelled lava stone top features an iconic abstract relief composition from their architectural universe. The glazing showcases warm volcanic hues (gradients of oranges, ochres, and browns) enhanced by touches of blue and emerald green glass at the heart of the recessed geometric shapes. The frame and legs are made of original steel. A sculptural centrepiece and highly collectible piece of post-war design. Dimensions: • Length: 103 cm. • Width: 53 cm. • Height: 35 cm. Condition (in its original state): The table is presented unrestored. The enamelled lava top is in very good condition with its original surface crazing (fine natural firing micro-cracks), without major chips. The steel structure shows scattered rust spots that give it a beautiful raw and authentic patina. Very solid and stable structure.
