Morvan plate duo

A pair of flamed earthenware plates from Morvan, featuring abstract and vibrant designs made from mixed colour oxides. The glazes exhibit effects of fusion and crystallisation in shades of turquoise, violet, deep blue, ivory, raspberry, and amber, giving each piece an almost mineral presence. The amber and ruby red borders contrast with the explosive and cloudy centres, creating a highly graphic ensemble, straddling modernist ceramics and abstract painting. Stamped MORVAN, pottery from Tamnay-en-Bazois in Nièvre. In excellent vintage condition, shiny (see photos). Diameter 18.5 cm. Two pieces with strong visual intensity.
