Plaster head of Apollo with a patina, academic moulding after the Antique, on a blackened wooden base. France, early 20th century. Beige-sand patinated plaster moulding of a masculine head with abundant curls, half-closed eyes, serene expression — classic iconography of Apollo or a Hellenistic youth. A very common model in the French Fine Arts teaching workshops of the 19th century, used as a drawing and sculpture model. Black-stained wooden base, probably added later. Homogeneous old patina with slight traces of dust embedded in the curls, giving a very convincing archaeological appearance. Height: 39 cm (with base). Width: 23 cm. Depth: 22 cm. Overall good condition. Homogeneous old patina. Small chip on the back of the neck, not very visible once on the base.
