An elegant ironstone dinner plate with old-fashioned charm, a testament to the expertise of the great earthenware factories of Northern France. It comes from the A. Lebacqz & M. Bouchart earthenware factory in Saint-Amand-les-Eaux. It is recognizable by its famous monkey holding the globe—a trademark used between 1877 and 1891. “Trianon” model, with a romantic green-grey decoration depicting two putti surrounded by floral scrolls and a neo-Gothic architectural landscape. The transfer decoration, of great finesse, evokes the world of 19th-century engravings and perfectly illustrates the period's taste for allegorical and poetic motifs. Stamped A. Lebacqz & M. Bouchart. Beautiful vintage condition: antique enamel with patina and age-related cracks, a tiny chip on the underside, no cracks (see photos). Diameter 22.5 cm. A Second Empire period plate, perfect for a romantic setting or for a collection of antique tableware.
