Pair of armchairs attributed to Károly Nagy, a leading figure in Hungarian mid-century furniture design. Made in the 1940s in Hungary, these chairs reflect the transition between interwar modernism and postwar functionalism. The solid cherrywood frames have been restored with a natural oil finish, preserving the wood's authentic surface. The seats and backrests are reupholstered in high-end Belgian bouclé fabric, and the original coil-sprung cushions have been professionally restored. The backrests feature horizontal cherrywood slats and button-tufted cushions, while the armrests are smoothly curved and hand-polished. The chairs underwent a comprehensive, museum-grade restoration, including reinforcement of joinery, restoration of springs, and historically accurate reupholstery. These armchairs are ideal for sophisticated interiors and are valuable for collectors due to their rarity, quality restoration, and luxurious materials.
