Ashtray or decorative bowl combining a deep red ceramic container with a mount in spelter representing a charming cherub. The winged child, finely sculpted, is seated on the edge and seems to reach out, while a small bronze bird completes the scene on the other side. The whole offers a composition full of poetry, typical of the decorative taste of the second half of the 19th century. The contrast between the shine of the ceramic and the nuanced patina of the spelter enhances the refined character of this piece. A decorative object of beautiful presence, ideal as a centrepiece, ashtray, or element of a cabinet of curiosities. Period: Napoleon III, second half of the 19th century. Materials: Red ceramic and spelter. Dimensions: Length: 20 cm. Height: 14 cm. Condition: Good overall condition, beautiful patina of the bronze. No notable chips in the glass.
