Harry Bertoia Barstool for Knoll International I Set of Two

Sculptural design by the italian-american sculptor and designer harry bertoia from 1956. The construction of welded wire rod was revolutionary at the time and brought the artist international attention. Bertoia's wire chairs are now icons of mid-century design. The stools look airy and light and are still stable and comfortable. The art historian brian lutz commented on bertoia's work: "bertoia's paintings were better than his sculptures. And his sculptures were better than his furniture. And his furniture was absolutely brilliant". Very good condition. Minimal flash rust on the frame. Cushion labeled with knoll on the underside.
