The vase, in a baluster shape, features a rich polychrome and gilded decoration typical of Japanese productions from the period, composed of numerous animated scenes of characters in traditional costumes, set within reserves surrounded by a profusion of floral and ornamental motifs. The finesse of the decoration, the numerous gold highlights, and the richness of the composition give this piece a beautiful decorative presence. The vase has been converted into a lamp on a gilded bronze base with rocaille decoration, and topped with a significant brass mount. Electrification present. Japan, Satsuma – 19th century. Total height: 88 cm. A beautiful decorative piece, spectacular in its dimensions and particularly interesting for the quality and richness of its Japanese decoration.
