Onnaing, polychrome faience pig jug, circa 1920. A zoomorphic jug in polychrome slip, representing a pig "maître d'hôtel." Mark on the reverse Frie (for Faïencerie) Onnaing, Made in France, numbered 737. This mark authenticates the manufacturing period (post-World War I). The pig is dressed as a waiter, with a bottle of wine under one arm and a draped towel over the other. It holds a cork and a bottle opener, and is seated on a chair that forms the handle. It wears a white apron tied over a grey suit, a tie and red boutonnière, as well as a turquoise cap. The interior is covered with the red glaze that has made Onnaing famous.
