A zoomorphic jug in polychrome slipware, representing a pig "maître d'hôtel" Mark on the reverse Frie (for Faïencerie) Onnaing, Made in France, numbered 737. This mark authenticates the manufacturing period (after the First World War) The pig is dressed as a waiter, with a bottle of wine under one arm and a draped towel over the other. It holds a cork and a bottle opener, and is seated on a chair that forms the handle. It wears a white apron tied over a grey suit, a tie and red boutonnière, as well as a turquoise cap. The interior is covered with the red glaze that has made Onnaing famous. References: "Pichets en Barbotine" Maryse Bottero, page 83 and Majolica Figures’ Cunningham, page 105.
