Planula office chair, Perry King and Santiago Miranda for Planula, attributed to Ettore Sottsass, Italy, 1970s. This rare office chair features a very distinct aesthetic, synonymous with Italian office furniture from the 70s. The seat is designed with soft, minimal curves that are fully upholstered. The most distinctive element of this chair is undoubtedly its base structure, made of polished cast metal. The chair has been recently reupholstered in a luxurious fabric from Aldeco Portugal. The original swivel wheels have been replaced to enhance their functionality. Scratches and minor marks can be found on the surfaces of the metal base. 2 sets available. Perry King is a British designer who specialised in industrial design before moving to Italy in the early 60s. His work for Olivetti focused on environmental design, industrial design, furniture, interior decoration, and graphic design. His career intersected with many important designers of the time, including Ettore Sottsass, with whom he designed the iconic Valentine typewriter in 1968. His most enduring working relationship is with Santiago Miranda, with whom he created a design studio and designed these chairs for the Italian manufacturer Planula.
