Pair of brass lamps

Sublime pair of Hollywood Regency lamps signed by Georges Mathias, a Belgian designer known for his work with bronze and glass in the 1970s. The lamp consists of a black lacquered base, a brass frame containing a 23-carat gold-plated engraved artwork, creating an elegant and contrasting interplay of materials. The design, both brutalist and refined, makes these lamps sculptural pieces that capture light with a unique intensity. Whether on a sideboard, a console, or as bedside lamps, they impose an artistic presence that is hard to ignore. The lamps were handmade and depict a natural scene. Each lamp is signed “Designo Maho,” a pseudonym used by Mathias for pieces sold in the Flemish part of Belgium. Overall good condition, sold as a pair only, with original shades available upon request (one of which is discoloured).
