This very pretty melon-shaped slip teapot stands out from its counterparts, melon pitchers and teapots, by its very soft pastel colors, a non-uniform beige and pale green and its reliefs that imitate the cracks of the melon. Its lid imitating the foliage also has very pretty reliefs and chiseling. It is a very beautiful artisanal work of ceramics. We can see three marks underneath but illegible or they are simply marks resulting from the work of the ceramics. This teapot seems older to me than many of its counterparts imitating the melon, its enamel has cracks typical of old ceramics; under the base, the rather dark color also testifies to a certain age. I would therefore rather date it from the first half of the 20th century, because these slips imitating fruits have existed since the end of the 19th century and in particular with the productions of bordallo pinheiro in portugal. It is in good general condition, no chips, which is rare enough to be highlighted, but it has a very fine crack at the top of the handle, very little visible and tiny chips on the inner edge of the upper opening. If you plan to use it for service, you will need to perfect the cleaning that I have already done on the inside, but for my part, I would advise keeping it as a decorative element to ensure it has a long life. It measures 23 cm in length from the spout to the handle, approximately 14 cm in diameter, 16 cm in height including the lid.
