Art deco vallauris mixed earth vase by jean gerbino 1930

This lovely vintage vase is made of ceramic. It is a work of the artist and ceramist Jean GERBINO (1876-1966). In the 1930s, he created a unique process for making these mixed earths or ceramic mosaics. His workshop belonged to the renowned Vallauris group. He used a neriage technique offering effects of marbling and mosaics of pieces of colored earth. These vases remind me of the murines of Venetian glassmakers. This piece measures 13 cm in height and 7 cm in diameter at the neck. It is signed "GERBINO Vallauris". I note a defect in the translucent glaze under the neck.
