Authentic set of 6 glazed stoneware plates, signed "accolay" on the reverse. The accolay pottery refers to a collective of ceramists based in the village of accolay, in yonne (burgundy), active mainly from 1945 to the 1980s. It was born around a group of former students of alexandre kostanda, originally gathered to make jewelry and ceramic buttons for parisian fashion. Their activity then diversified: vases, lamps, plates, dishes, sculptures, decorative objects, etc. These iconic pieces from the famous accolay pottery embody the modernist style of the 60s-70s: the contrast of black and brown/orange glaze very typical of the 1950s-1970s, the radiating or scratched patterns, made with a brush or by scraping the glaze (often called "sgraffito" or "comb" effect technique) and a deep, glossy finish, common in decorative pieces from the accolay workshop. Stamp printed in the glaze before firing, typical of the original productions of the accolay workshop. Pieces sought after by vintage ceramics lovers and collectors of 20th century french design. Beautiful condition, very shiny, perfectly preserved glaze, a mini chip on the edge of a plate. Dimensions: 20 cms in diameter, 3.5 cms high period: circa 1965-1975.
