Superb old painting depicting a lively forest landscape, in the tradition of the barbizon school, a movement that revolutionized landscape painting in the 19th century with its naturalistic and luminous approach. The work is by baldy, a little-documented artist whose name is associated with the barbizon school. One of his works, entitled "woman in a landscape", dating from the early 20th century, was recently restored, testifying to his membership in this artistic movement. A bucolic and immersive atmosphere this painting sensitively captures a wooded path bathed in light, evoking the calm and poetry of the barbizon landscapes. The composition plays on contrasts and depth, while a character in the background adds a touch of discreet life. The whole recalls the great masters of the school, such as théodore rousseau, jean-baptiste corot and narcisse diaz de la peña. Characteristics: period: late 19th century technique: oil on canvas signature: baldy (little documented) dimensions with frame: 67 cm X 57 cm period frame in carved and gilded wood, decorated with floral motifs condition: the work is in good general condition, with a beautiful patina of time.
