Pair of antique chairs with authentic Aubusson tapestry backs, one featuring a gentleman and the other a lady in 17th-century attire. The tapestry is handwoven in central France, a craft dating back to the 14th century. The seats have been reupholstered in soft velvet, complementing the original tapestry and giving the chairs a fresh, contemporary look. The oak-based frames are ebonized to a chic black, sturdy, and equipped with original castors. The tapestry backs show gentle wear, adding to their antique charm. These chairs are perfect for display or seating, adding historical flair and conversation to any space. Fully restored frames, new upholstery and belts on the seats, with original Aubusson backs retained. France, Napoleon III style.
