Its moulded wooden frame alternates between black and gilding, in a simple and elegant composition. The old gilding shows beautiful wear and reveals the underlying layers in places. The original mercury glass is nicely speckled and oxidised, particularly around the edges. These marks of time give it a lot of depth and all the charm one seeks in an antique mirror. The whole piece has retained a lovely patina as well as its old mounting visible on the back. A very decorative mirror that is easy to place thanks to its size, whether alone, resting on a piece of furniture, or combined with other antique mirrors and frames. Dimensions: 36 × 30 cm. Thickness: 2.5 cm. Weight: 1.7 kg. In good antique condition with wear and patina on the frame and gilding. Numerous speckles and oxidations on the mercury glass, visible in the photos and an integral part of its charm. Period: second half of the 19th century, Napoléon III.
