Small covered Chinese porcelain dish, Wan Shou decoration, 1970s-80s.

Vintage covered plate in Chinese porcelain, probably dating from the 1970s–1980s, notable for its intense emerald green background and rich polychrome decoration partially hand-painted. The decoration belongs to the Chinese ornamental tradition known as Wan Shou / Mun Shou, associated with auspicious motifs of longevity and prosperity. On the green background, compositions of fruits, figurative medallions, small repetitive red and white patterns, as well as several auspicious Chinese characters unfold. The whole is highlighted with golden fillets. The shape is particularly decorative: a wide low bowl with a hollow central part is closed by a domed lid, topped with a significant circular golden finial. The contrast between the deep green, white porcelain, pink, red, and yellow enamels, and the golden accents gives it a remarkable visual presence. The piece belongs to the Chinese export production of the second half of the 20th century, which reinterprets traditional Chinese decorative vocabulary in objects intended particularly for the international market.
