This cuban mahogany chest of drawers opens with three slightly recessed drawers surrounded by strips with oval and beribboned brass entrances. Below, two drawers, identical in style, but larger, accompanied by drop handles and also fitted with louis XVI entrances. All are equipped with authentic, functional locks with their keys. The half-round uprights with fixed grooves stand out on constricted spindle legs fitted with brass shoes. The sides are independently darkened with two panels of different dimensions. This piece of furniture is topped with raised carrara marble highlighted by an openwork brass gallery. The drawer interiors as well as the structure are in oak. This chest of drawers represents a fine example of the mastery of the artisan cabinetmakers of the louis XVI period through their know-how and attention to detail. ******** period: 2nd part 18th century excellent condition.
