A very beautiful set of two antique Viennese chairs signed Jacob & Josef Kohn Wien, remarkable for the richness of its decor and the quality of its craftsmanship. Made of bent wood, these chairs feature an elegant structure with typically Viennese lines, including curved legs, rounded uprights, and slightly arched backs. The seats and backs are particularly decorative, adorned with stylised floral and plant motifs, scrolls, and small trilobed patterns, executed in subtle contrasts of brown and honey wood. The whole perfectly reflects the aesthetics of Viennese Jugendstil / Art Nouveau from the turn of the 20th century. Jacob & Josef Kohn, founded in Vienna in 1849, was one of the main competitors of the famous Thonet company in the field of bent wood furniture. The factory experienced considerable international development and collaborated in the early 20th century with several prominent Viennese designers, including Josef Hoffmann and Gustav Siegel. Its productions are now sought after for their historical interest, quality of craftsmanship, and characteristic Viennese furniture aesthetics. Dimensions of one chair: • Total height: 90 cm. • Seat height: 47 cm. • Width: 40 cm. • Depth: 42 cm. • Weight: 3.4 kg per chair. Overall good condition considering their age, with a warm antique patina, some signs of use and visible marks of time on the wood, which contribute to the authentic character of the set. Best regards.
