A splendid lounge chair of Italian manufacture, made between the late 1960s and early 1970s, is a perfect example of the "Space Age" style that characterised interior design of that decade. The structure features a rigid outer shell made of white lacquered plastic, which wraps around the sides and shoulders of the chair, sloping down to the ground in a way that almost suspends the seat. Inside, the upholstery is covered in burnt orange fabric, with a slightly reclined high back adorned with four central button tufts. The armrests are cushion-like, independent, and rest on the edge of the shell — a typical construction detail of Italian production from those years. The seat is wide and deep, designed for relaxation. The chair rests on a base with two dark wooden beams and sled feet, which visually lightens its volume and provides stability to the seat. The contrast between the glossy white shell and the warm rust tone of the velvet is the most recognisable feature of this piece: a striking presence that works beautifully in a modern environment as a colour accent, as well as in a more classic or eclectic context. The overall condition is very good, considering that the upholstery and covering have been redone, while maintaining a very conservative colour taste. The white shell is intact, with no cracks or breaks; the wooden base retains its original finish. There are minor and negligible scratches on the surface of the shell and on the wooden feet, visible only up close. The piece does not have any marks, labels, or stamps that would allow for a certain attribution to a specific manufacturer or designer. The formal characteristics — plastic shell, velvet upholstery, cushion-like armrests, wooden base — are typical of a wide range of Italian production from the era, which saw numerous companies at work.
