Abstract carved wood sculpture, Netherlands, 1980s

A powerful abstract wood sculpture from the Netherlands, dating from the 1980s. Hand-carved from solid hardwood, the composition is formed by a dense arrangement of rounded, organic volumes that appear to grow and emerge from one another. The deliberately visible carving marks give the surface a strong tactile quality, while the deep warm tone of the wood emphasizes the sculptural forms and shadows. Highly decorative and expressive, the work has a distinctly organic modernist character and presents beautifully from different angles. Condition. Excellent condition. Details. Artist: Unknown.
