Incredible vintage ceramic vase by Serafino Volpi for Deruta. Made in Italy in the 1940s-50s. Volpi was a ceramicist, businessman, and one of the most innovative artists of this period. A potter who worked in Deruta from 1916 to 1918, Serafino Volpi served as the factory manager at the Majolica Deruta factory. From 1928, he founded, in partnership with Gino Vesini, a factory called Maiolica Derutese Volpi. The following year, he became the sole owner of the company, which operated until the early 1950s.
