The base consists of a bundle of rattan and bamboo rods joined at mid-height by a twisted link resembling the cord of a sheaf, with the rods flaring out in a corolla shape both upwards and downwards to ensure a stable seat. The whole is enhanced by a warm golden hue with a nuanced patina. A circular transparent glass top with a polished edge crowns the composition, allowing for a full view of the sculpture of the base. This iconic model of the wheat sheaf is emblematic of the creations of Elinor McGuire, co-founder of the McGuire company in San Francisco, whose hand-bound rattan and bamboo furniture has defined an organic elegance highly sought after by decorators since the 1970s. It naturally complements neoclassical tastes and chic bohemian interiors. Condition report: Good overall condition. Beautiful homogeneous golden patina of the rattan. A sculptural coffee table that warms both a contemporary living room and a refined country interior.
