Dressmaker's wardrobe (or mirrored wardrobe!), Napoleon III period. Its name comes from the fact that this type of wardrobe was used specifically by tailors and dressmakers. It features three beveled, pivoting mercury mirrors (one on the door and two on the sides), allowing it to be used as a large triptych mirror for fittings. Dimensions: width 119 cm, depth 57 cm, height 225 cm. Original color: matte black (likely achieved through ebonizing the wood). Some signs of wear or age (on the wood and paint), but these do not affect its immediate use as is. (The mirrors are very well preserved for mercury mirrors of this age, with no major alterations due to aging and excellent visibility.) Various typical ornaments (see photos) are present on the drawer, the top of the wardrobe, and the sides. Overall, in good condition, clean, and with ample storage capacity. Removable door and sides; once in place, it is secured using the same principle as all antique cabinets (small pin at the top, removable hinge at the bottom). Rare piece.
