Important buffet / sideboard in carved walnut – decoration of putto – 20th century
Very important sideboard for presentation in walnut, of beautiful quality in cabinetry and sculpture, made around 1900. This piece of furniture stands out for its exceptional dimensions, measuring nearly 2.50 meters in length, and for its highly architectural façade. It opens in the central part with two drawers and two doors, complemented on each side by curved side doors offering significant storage volume. The interior is fitted with shelves. The façade features remarkable sculpted decoration. The central post is particularly spectacular, adorned with a harvesting putto picking a bunch of grapes, surrounded by vine tendrils, leaves, and clusters. The lower part has an important sculpted shell, while the crosspieces and panels are enriched with leafy motifs and relief sculptures. The central doors with curved panels, rounded ends, the upper cornice, and the small scroll feet give the whole piece an elegant and very decorative silhouette. The wooden top is enhanced by beautiful geometric woodwork, arranged in interwoven patterns, which provides an interesting contrast to the rich sculpture of the façade. Beautiful warm patina of the walnut. A spectacular piece of furniture, particularly suitable for a large dining room, an old residence, or a characterful interior. Period: around 1900.
