Zoomorphic vase with double birds in black clay from Marginea, Romania.

Black clay vase made in the Marginea region of Romania. Zoomorphic piece representing two bird heads on each side. It is decorated with leaves depicting plumage. The potter used a prehistoric technique of engraving the piece before firing. The central opening resembles a basket. The piece is numbered 155/140 and signed with the artist's initial G. Created in the 1960s. Very good condition, with a tiny chip on one bird's beak (see photos). Dimensions: 23 cm X 8 cm, opening 5.5 cm X 8.5 cm, height 14 cm. Weight without packaging: 709 g.
