Queen Anne Low-Boy Side Table in Oak, England, 18th Century - A side table that can serve as a small desk. Provincial craftsmanship in the Queen Anne style. The structure is entirely made of solid oak. The wood's grain is very pronounced, particularly on the top surface and the front of the drawer. Period: Late 18th / early 19th century. Rectangular top with overhang and straight edges. The apron opens with a single drawer that spans the entire width. The lower band of the front and the side panels is cut and heavily shaped. Traditional joinery with mortise and tenon construction. Visible protruding wooden pegs on the legs. The drawer is constructed with hand-cut, irregular dovetails. No lock mechanism or key present. Overall good condition. Signs of use, marks of time, slight scratches and superficial scuffs inherent to its age on the top. Natural oxidation of the underlying woods. Minor cracks in the oak. A slight metal loss noted on the right end of the brass plate of the left handle. Deep, old waxed patina. Measurements: • Length: 73 cm. • Width: 46 cm. • Height: 72 cm. • Height under the apron: 55 cm.
