Italian faience plate with a female portrait decoration, Renaissance style, 19th century. This plate is inspired by the style of the "Bella Donne" (beautiful women) of the 16th century. It features an "istoriato" (portrait) decoration in the centre, surrounded by a frieze of grotesques and acanthus scrolls in ochre and yellow tones on a cream white background. The central medallion depicts the bust of a young woman in a classic blue dress and a crown of leaves, framed by an emerald green border enhanced with cobalt blue details. This style evokes the splendour of the Italian Renaissance (16th century). The plate shows natural crazing (fine lines in the glaze) across its surface, a sign of authenticity and age. No significant cracks or chips are visible in the photos, although the underside bears normal signs of wear due to friction over time. The reverse, the base, is smooth, without any visible artisan mark, which is common in the workshops of regions like Deruta, Faenza, or Castelli. Period: Late 19th century (Historicism) or early 20th century.
