Stunning antique French Quimper dark blue and floral swagged border with a central design of an elegant basket of flowers with a winged cherub, or angel, in the middle. An unusual design for Quimper, more in the style of a Rouen production. It is delicate and elegant. It comes complete with an antique brass wall hanging frame, triangle, with the claws of lion's feet to hold it in place. Highly collectible piece produced approximately between 1860-1883. The mark on the back being HB with a dot in front is a variation of what has come to be known as 'first mark HB'; "it has an additional dot...thought to signify a specific artist". HB signified: Markings for the pottery known variously as the Grande Maison, de la Hubaudière or the HB factory. DO NOT wash in a dishwasher, modern detergents can damage the plate. Clean with a soft damp cloth. There aren't any chips or cracks. Please note that colors can change on different monitors. Diameter: 23.5cm/9.25 inches measurements are approximate.
