Gilbert Valentin "The Archangels" - Vallauris - signed artwork - 427. Gilbert Valentin was born in 1928 in Nancy. It was in 1946 in Dieulefit that he discovered ceramics and was introduced to its various techniques. He trained through a professional apprenticeship at the National School of Vierzon in the ceramics department and then as a ceramic engineer in Lunéville Saint-Clément. In 1950, he decided to settle in Vallauris where he founded The Archangels and formed friendships with many artists of various genres, such as Pablo Picasso. Gilbert passed away on 31/12/2000.
